15-year-old boy dead, 13-year-old seriously injured in shooting in Hayward – NBC Bay Area

Police are investigating a shooting that left a 15-year-old boy dead and another teenager injured in Hayward early Wednesday morning.

Hayward police said they were notified of a shooting near the 24000 block of Second Street around 2 a.m. Wednesday. When officers arrived, they found an unconscious man with gunshot wounds.

The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as a 15-year-old resident of Rodeo in Contra Costa County.

At approximately 2:15 a.m., officers learned there was another shooting victim who was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He was a 13-year-old boy from Hayward.

According to police, his condition is critical but stable.

According to police, no one is currently in custody in connection with the shooting.

Police say this is Hayward’s fifth murder this year.
