The man accused of raping a child at a Rockland immigrant shelter was released on $500 bail before ICE agents attempted to take him into custody for possible deportation.

Law enforcement officials told the Herald that 26-year-old Haitian national Cory Alvarez was nowhere to be found.

The Plymouth court rejected an arrest warrant requested by immigration authorities and Alvarez was released on $500 bail, the Herald learned.

Alvarez is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl who police described in a report as “disabled” without specifying a specific disability. He has pleaded not guilty.

Alvarez and the alleged victim both lived at the Comfort Inn at 850 Hingham Street in Rockland, which prosecutors say has been converted into a migrant housing facility operated under both state and federal programs.

The Hingham Clerk of Court’s office directed the Herald to submit all questions about Alvarez via email, but has not yet received a response.

According to the police report, Rockland police responded to the hotel shortly after 7 p.m. on March 13 after a receptionist called and reported a rape.

“He raped me,” the girl told investigators from an examination room at South Shore Hospital, according to a police report. “I asked him to leave me alone, but he didn’t stop.”
