BCL Vice President Fuad allegedly raped former head of Eden College

A former chairman of the Eden Mohila College chapter of the Bangladesh Chhatra League has accused Fuad Hossain, a vice-president of the organisation’s central committee, of rape and feticide.

The woman filed a complaint with the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-5 in Dhaka on Thursday.

Ali Asgar Swapan, special counsel for the state, said the judge had directed the chief of Hazaribagh police station to register the case and record the statement of the complainant.

According to the petition, the woman met Fuad while hanging out with her friends at Dhaka University’s TSC in 2014.

They exchanged phone numbers and a relationship developed.

After that, they visited many places together. During a trip to Cox’s Bazar on August 21, 2016, Fuad raped her by promising to marry her, the woman alleged in the complaint.

The next day they married according to Sharia law.

But when the woman became pregnant in 2019, Fuad asked her to kill the fetus. She rejected this suggestion.

On the night of November 23 of the same year, Fuad gave her medicated juice to drink, which made her sick and destroyed the fetus, the indictment says.

Fuad then “raped her several times against her will” and promised to register her marriage, the woman said in the complaint.

The BCL central leader promised to register the marriage after a BCL council meeting when the woman urged her to do so in March 2022.

Fuad became the organisation’s vice president on the council and the complainant learned that he had married another woman.

She put pressure on him again when he “raped her against her will again” on January 3 of this year.

But then he beat her and chased her out of the house, the woman claimed.

bdnews24.com contacted Fuad, but he hung up when asked for comment on the allegations.
