Lafayette Pedestrian and Bicycle Committee Discuss Series of People Hit and Killed by Cars | Local

LAFAYETTE, La. (KADN) – The large number of people being struck and killed by cars in the Hub City is shining a spotlight on the safety of cyclists and pedestrians.

The Lafayette Pedestrian and Bicycle Committee discussed the situation during its bi-monthly meeting at the Rosa Parks Transportation Center on Wednesday, May 8.

Committee members said the incidents could be prevented but would require cooperation from motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.

Their goal is to ensure the safety of the roads for everyone.

The Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning Committee includes representatives from LCG, DOTD and the Bike Lafayette group.
