Former Spotswood High School student dies in tragic boating accident

HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The funeral arrangements have been made for a former Spotswood High School student who died in a boating accident in North Carolina over the weekend.

Jackson Fendley’s funeral will be held at two o’clock Sunday afternoon at the First Presbyterian Church on Court Square in Harrisonburg. The family will receive friends after the service.

Fendley, 19, died last Saturday on Lake Gaston when the boat he was traveling in became stuck on a dock.

Another passenger, 20-year-old Addison Sheahan, whose father teaches in Spotswood, was also involved in the accident but was uninjured.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
