House fire in Mesa: 1 dead

Mesa police were called to the home around 2:30 a.m. Thursday.

MESA, Arizona – One person is dead after a house fire in Mesa in the early morning hours, city police confirmed.

At around 2:30 a.m., first responders were called to a house fire near Broadway and Power Road. While Mesa police officers evacuated the surrounding homes, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire.

“Unfortunately, firefighters found a person in the home who was pronounced dead at the scene despite treatment by medical personnel,” officials said.

Police and fire investigators are working to find out more about the cause of the fire. The identity of the person has not yet been released.
