Father ‘raped and strangled 16-year-old girl on sinking migrant boat after watching his own wife and daughter drown in the Mediterranean’

A teenage girl was reportedly raped and strangled to death by an Iraqi migrant on board a sinking boat as bystanders, including her mother, watched in horror.

The unspeakable act occurred late on June 16, when the boat sank on its deadly route through the Mediterranean, but the attacker survived the shipwreck.

There were dozens of migrants on the boat in Italy, along with his allegedly helpless 16-year-old victim, who was making the dangerous journey to Europe with his mother.

According to local media, only eleven people survived, and the UN and UNICEF say there were migrants from Syria, Iraq and Iran on board.

They had previously reported that the attacker was a 27-year-old Iraqi who had watched his own wife and daughter die before his eyes.

According to another source, the attack began when the sailboat was already drifting in the Ionian Sea and he then took out his violence on the girl, the daughter of another survivor.

It is believed that she was so injured by the cruel violence that she suffocated.

After the girl’s mother reported her death, police are still investigating his motive but have arrested him as the prime suspect.

Local prosecutor Giuseppe Casciaro said: “We are conducting further investigations.”

The suspect is currently in a prison in Calabria, southern Italy.

They confirmed that 36 people on board died, including 15 children, and that some are still missing. There were believed to be around 70 migrants on board the ship, including two dozen children.

NGOs added that the migrants also included Kurdish and Afghan families.

“Keir will let illegal immigrants on the streets, I will kick them out – it is YOUR decision,” Rishi warns in a TV showdown

The ship, which was shipwrecked about 120 miles off the southern coast of Italy, had set sail from Turkey.

The notorious migration route across the central Mediterranean is so deadly that most migrants lose their lives on the sea routes.

Survivors told aid workers that they had made the journey to Europe without life jackets and that other boats could not help them.

The Italian newspaper “Il Messaggero” reported that the shipwreck was caused by an engine explosion.

Shortly after it was left floating, it began to sink and submerged completely.

Survivors were taken to the port of Roccella Ionica, where one woman later died.

In March, we reported that the number of illegal migrants in the first quarter exceeded the previous record of 4,548 set in 2022, four days before the end of the lockdown, 23 percent more than last March.

Italy is an important entry point for thousands who want to escape the often precarious conditions in their home country.

Every year, people from the Middle East, Africa and Asia try to get to the wealthier EU.
