Shaboozey Tries Popular TikTok Dance in Buffalo, New York

It’s one of the most popular songs in 2024 so far, becoming a trending sound on social media apps and topping charts, including the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

The song is called “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and even though it’s about, you know, get drunk – kids love this song because they love doing the choreographed TikTok dance with their family and friends.

One of the reasons the song can be so catchy is that it’s built around the melody of a familiar 2004 song, “J-Kwon”Tipsy.” However, the person behind “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” is Shaboozey.

Shaboozey, born Collins Chibueze, has family ties to Nigeria, but growing up in Virginia, many people had trouble pronouncing his name – often calling him “SHA-booze-EEE.” This is how his stage name was born.

He never tried it until a local DJ in Buffalo, New York asked him if he had ever learned the dance.

Before performing at the WYRK Taste of Country Festival in Buffalo, Shaboozey was backstage trying out.

After a few moves, Shaboozey said, “I don’t know, I don’t know… I’m not doing the TikTok dance.”
