TP Chandrasekharan murder case: Three prison officials in Kannur suspended over recommendation for reduced sentence

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has ordered the suspension of three prison officials linked to the controversial recommendation to grant commutation to the accused in the TP Chandrasekaran murder case.

The suspended officials include Kannur Central Jail Deputy Superintendent KS Sreejith, Deputy Superintendent Grade-I BG Arun and Assistant Jail Officer OV Raghunath.

The decision to suspend the officials was announced ahead of the Leader of the Opposition’s presentation in the Kerala Parliament on June 27.

KK Rema, MP and wife of TP Chandrasekharan, had recently sought permission to move an emergency motion on the issue in the Assembly. However, the Speaker rejected the motion, citing the Kerala government’s assurance that no commutation of sentence was planned.
