His appearance came less than a month after Gordon Ramsay was hospitalized for a “really bad” cycling accident.

Gordon Ramsay, famous chef and television personality, showed his resilience when he took the mound to throw out the ceremonial first pitch for the Boston Red Sox’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park on Tuesday, June 25. The appearance came less than a month after Ramsay was hospitalized for a “really bad” bicycle accident.

Wearing a special “03” Red Sox jersey, Ramsay waved to the cheering crowd before throwing a pitch that flew high but was easily caught by pitcher Liam Hendriks. Although the Red Sox lost the game 4-9, Ramsay’s enthusiastic participation and recovery from his accident were a highlight of the evening.

The celebrity chef had previously shared details of his accident on Instagram, expressing his gratitude for wearing a helmet which saved his life and stressing the importance of helmets for all cyclists, regardless of the distance of the ride.
