Man arrested for DWI near Houston allegedly assaulted two detention officers | Texas

Houston, TX – A man was arrested for drunk driving and assaulting two detention officers, authorities say.

Night shift deputies observed a Dodge Charger in the 4600 block of E. Sam Houston Parkway failing to maintain a single lane and nearly striking several other motorists and the outer Beltway wall. Police conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Jacob Eddin. Deputies observed signs of intoxication and asked Eddin to perform a standardized field sobriety test, which he performed poorly.

Eddin was transported to the Harris County Jail, where a breath sample showed he was nearly twice the legal limit for intoxication, according to police.

While in jail, police said Eddin refused to be fingerprinted and assaulted two Harris County Sheriff’s Office detention officers.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted charges of “assaulting a peace officer” and “driving while intoxicated.” Jacob Eddin was processed and booked, the department said.
