One person died and three others were injured in an attack that included a stabbing and shooting on Interstate 5 in Washington state, law enforcement officials said.

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – A driver was found dead and three passengers injured on Interstate 5 in Washington state Wednesday following a stabbing and shooting, police officials said.

Washington State Police Detective Rick Johnson told KING-TV that officers who responded to the vehicle found the male driver dead from a stab wound south of Seattle near Federal Way on Wednesday afternoon.

A man who was in the passenger seat of the BMW was taken to a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, Johnson said. Two other passengers, a woman and a man who had already exited the vehicle when police arrived, were taken to a hospital with stab wounds, he said.

Johnson said he knew nothing about the condition of the passengers.

He said there was no danger to the public. Police were with the passengers at the hospital and speaking to witnesses as they investigate the incident, he said.
