Princess Anne slowly recovering after “incident” with horse

Princess Anne is “slowly recovering” after being admitted to hospital on Monday.

Her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, gave an update on his wife’s condition after it was revealed that she had been injured in a “horse accident” earlier this week.

After visiting the hospital where 73-year-old Anne is staying, a reporter asked how King Charles III’s sister is doing.

“She’s slowly recovering, thank you,” said the 69-year-old. “She’ll come out when she’s ready.”

The day before, he had told reporters: “She is recovering well, thank you very much. We are deeply grateful to the medical team and hospital staff for their expert care – and to the emergency services, who were all so wonderful on the scene. She is doing well. Slowly but surely.”

The Telegraph had reported that Anne was suffering from memory loss after “suffering minor injuries and concussion in an incident at the Gatcombe Park estate,” where she was with her husband and two children, Zara Tindall (43) and Peter Phillips (46).

Her royal engagements, including a trip to Canada, have been postponed until the rest of the week.

An official statement following the incident confirmed: “Her Royal Highness remains at Southmead Hospital in Bristol for observation as a precautionary measure and is expected to make a full and speedy recovery.”
