Ranchi: A special Pocso court on Wednesday sentenced a man to 10 years imprisonment for raping a minor girl in 2017. The court convicted the convict under Section 376 (2) (n) of the Indian Penal Code. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convict with a condition that in case of non-payment, he will have to serve an additional six-month imprisonment. The 15-year-old girl lived with the accused for two years while he repeatedly committed the offence. In 2017, he promised to marry her, but on June 20, 2020, the girl came to know that the man had married another girl. She then filed a complaint against him. Additional Public Prosecutor Pushpa Sinha said, “The prosecution has produced five witnesses to support its case while the defence examined one witness.”
