A sense of shock and sadness is palpable in the village of Eglinton following the quad bike accident on Ballygudden Road, just off the village’s main street.

The accident apparently occurred on a bend in the road as the teenager was riding his quad bike down the hill.

It is also believed that staff at the nearby Eglinton Medical Centre provided him with first aid.

The damage to the hedge on the narrow country road where the accident occurred is clearly visible to passing motorists.

It is an area with many farming families.
