Dead Rising gets a second remaster from Capcom

Capcom officially remasters the zombie action game Dead Rising again with the newly announced Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is set to be the definitive edition of the adventure. In a new teaser video, Capcom has confirmed that this edition of the game is specifically “an updated version with a brand new look.” The character models have been completely revamped and it seems that the release is more like a remake in spirit.

While gameplay isn’t shown in the announcement video, Capcom has revealed a new model for protagonist Frank West. His facial expressions are much more structured and his movements seem much more dynamic. We expect other characters to receive the same treatment. Presumably, this remaster will also build on some of the core features introduced in the 2016 HD remaster Dead Rising – support for variable frame rates, more save slots, and the like. Notably, this remaster was more of a simple reskin, with updated textures that look cleaner on modern consoles. It still retained the blockiness of the character models – which was a key difference from the Deluxe Remaster.

Why is Capcom re-releasing Dead Rising?

The timing of the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster The release is quite odd, especially considering the game already has a relatively recent HD remaster. It could simply be Capcom dipping into its back catalogue, assuming it has the financial stability and scope to do so, or it could be a precursor to a new Dead Rising Consequence.

If that is the case, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster would be a good introduction to the zombie world of Dead Risingand would help players get familiar with the bloody, action-packed combat and sense of humor. Nothing is confirmed yet, but be that as it may, Dead Rising is always worth a visit.

Capcom has not yet announced a release date for this remaster or confirmed which consoles it will be released on, but we can expect to hear more in the coming months.
