Danville man convicted of sexually abusing 10-year-old girl

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) – A Danville man has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after being found guilty of having sex with a 10-year-old girl.

Logan Swisher, 22, agreed to a partial deal with prosecutors on May 9. He pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault, other charges of the same crime were dropped, and he was sentenced on Wednesday.

The sexual assault occurred on the night of March 4, 2023, in a vehicle parked in Ellsworth Park after hours. A deputy found the car and upon investigation found Swisher climbed from the back seat into the driver’s seat via the center console. A girl was sitting in the passenger seat, and Swisher was shirtless.

When the officer contacted the girl’s guardian, they learned she was 10 years old. When Swisher spoke with officers, he admitted to having sexual intercourse with her on multiple occasions, according to prosecutors. A letter from the girl, read by the judge during sentencing, detailed the trauma she suffered as a result of Swisher’s actions.

“In situations like this, children may not fully understand the abuse that has been perpetrated against them,” said District Attorney Jacqueline Lacy. “The long-term impact of sexual abuse on a child is immeasurable. I feel for the victim and her family as they work to heal the wounds.”

Under the agreement he made with prosecutors, Swisher could have been sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison. He must serve 85% of the sentence and will be eligible for three years to life probation after his release from prison. He must also register as a sex offender for life.
