73-year-old man attacked in downtown Pittsburgh; suspect in custody – WPXI

PITTSBURGH – A 73-year-old man was attacked in downtown Pittsburgh Wednesday afternoon.

According to Pittsburgh police, the attack occurred around noon near the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Smithfield Street.

The victim told police that he was walking down the street when the suspect approached him.

He tried to escape but was pursued by the suspect and hit in the head, police said.

The victim fell to the ground and suffered a facial injury. He was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

Officers identified the suspect as 24-year-old Jameel Huff based on surveillance video.

According to court documents, Huff told police he attacked the victim because he “heard in his head” that he was a pedophile.

Huff is charged with aggravated assault.
