According to a statement shared with Billboard from the Albemarle County Police Department: “On Monday, June 24th, at approximately 5:54 p.m., the Albemarle County Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash that occurred in the area of Seminole Trail (US 29) and Woodbrook Drive. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash. Based on the investigation, officers arrested an adult male on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.”

This isn’t Tinsley’s first legal trouble this year. In February, Tinsley was hit with a new lawsuit alleging the musician violated the terms of a sexual harassment suit that was settled in 2019. Boyd was sued by trumpeter James Frost-Winn in May 2018 for frequently making sexual remarks to him during the course of their professional relationship as a member of the band Crystal Garden, which Boyd founded, produced and managed for a documentary project that would chronicle the group’s rise to fame.

The two parties agreed to a settlement payment of $837,000 to Frost-Winn in 2019, but Frost-Winn’s lawyers allege that Tinsley violated a “mutual non-disparagement” clause in a series of social media posts on February 22, 2022, which violated the clause that prevented both parties from discussing the matter publicly.

The violinist appeared on every album of the Dave Matthews Band from 1994 Under the table and dreams until 2018 Come tomorrow. In February 2018, Tinsley announced his departure from the band, shortly before the allegations of sexual harassment became public. In a statement, he wrote: “I need to take a break from the band and touring to focus on my family and my health for a while. I will miss you and my brothers in the band, but I am a little exhausted and need to spend more time with my family and bring more balance into my life.”
