Brickell massage therapist sexually abused client and offered her hush money, police say

MIAMI – Miami police arrested a 53-year-old massage therapist at his employer’s place of work in Brickell on Tuesday after he allegedly sexually assaulted a client and then offered her money to keep quiet about the incident.

According to a police report, police were dispatched to Massage Envy in Mary Brickell Village, 900 S. Miami Ave., after receiving a report that Jorge Cardenio Destrades Llanes digitally penetrated a 28-year-old woman while massaging her thigh as part of a full-body massage.

The woman told police that Destrades Llanes then offered her money “so she wouldn’t tell anyone,” the report said.

According to police, she refused his offer of cash; he then offered to send her the money via Zelle.

“(Destrades Llanes) left the massage room and the victim began to get dressed,” police wrote in the report. “(He) then returned to the room with his phone and asked for her phone number to send her money.”

According to police, he sent $200 via Zelle, but she “never received it.”

“Further investigation revealed that the phone number the victim (Destrades Llanes) had given was incorrect by one digit and was stored in his phone with (the victim’s) name,” police wrote.

The report states that Destrades Llanes spoke to officers and told them in Spanish that he “felt (the victim) was sexually seducing him” and “then he may have inadvertently touched her vagina.”

Destrades Llanes claimed the woman asked him if he could “pay for the massage,” to which he agreed and wired the $200, police said.

“He believes the victim asked him for money because he touched her,” the report said.

He was subsequently arrested by the police for sexual abuse.

A judge found there was sufficient probable cause to charge Destrades Llanes. As of Wednesday, he is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on $7,500 bail and a Justice of the Peace warrant.
