Florida suspect arrested in Edinburgh after 12 years on the run

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — According to the City of Edinburg, an Edinburg native wanted in Florida for sexual assault was arrested Tuesday afternoon.

Carlos Perez, 35, was arrested by the FBI and Edinburg police after being on the run for 12 years.

Perez was arrested shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of W. Trenton Road after initially being stopped during a traffic stop.

During the traffic stop, it was discovered that Perez had a valid Texas driver’s license with false information.

A criminal complaint is filed against Perez on site for non-identification.

His charges are still pending due to ongoing investigations.
