Franklin man killed in head-on crash in Robertson County | KWKT

ROBERTSON COUNTY, Texas (FOX 44) – An 18-year-old Franklin man was killed in a traffic accident in rural Robertson County Wednesday morning.

Thomas Watson of Franklin was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident occurred on FM-2549, about a half mile east of McCarver Lane. This is north of the community of Sutton.

Sergeant Justin Ruiz of the Department of Public Safety said it happened around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning as a 1996 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck was traveling westbound and a 2005 Ford Mustang was traveling eastbound on FM-2549.

Investigating officers said the Mustang crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with the pickup truck. Watson was a passenger in the Mustang and was pronounced dead by Robertson County Justice of the Peace Ramona Aguirre. The driver and rear passenger were taken to CHI St. Joseph Regional Health Center with suspected serious injuries.

The driver of the pickup was also taken to hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.

The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office reported that the road was closed for some time while the wreckage was recovered.
