The Cowichan Valley School District was hit by a “cyber incident” on June 25 that impacted some of the district’s systems and operations, including its website and internet services.

School district spokesman Jeff Rowan said he could not comment further on the incident but noted that the case was under investigation.

“We are currently investigating the incident and are taking all possible steps to contain it,” Rowan said. “At this time, we have no indication that the incident impacted the personal information of our students and families. We are working diligently with outside experts to investigate and contain the incident. We are committed to restoring normal operations as quickly as possible and will keep you updated on the progress of these efforts.”

While the school year is over for many high school students, the last day of school for the district’s elementary school students is Thursday, June 27.
