Woman charged with murder after two children found dead in New Jersey home, police say – WSOC TV

LAKEWOOD, NJ — A woman faces multiple charges after her children were found dead in a Lakewood, New Jersey home.

The Ocean County District Attorney’s Office announced that 27-year-old Naomi Elkins has been charged with two counts of murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with the deaths of her children on Tuesday.

Shortly before 5 p.m., Lakewood police officers were called to a home. Emergency crews were already on site and attempted to rescue two children, WPIX reported. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, the Ocean County District Attorney’s Office said.

Prosecutors said the children, ages 1 and 3, were stabbed and drowned, WPIX reported.

Further investigation revealed that Elkins was responsible for the deaths, prosecutors said. She was eventually arrested.
