WASHINGTON – The Washington Police Department said it arrested a man suspected of committing several burglaries in the city between June 4 and June 9 and issued a press release about the incident Wednesday afternoon.

Colton Lane Pategas, 25, of Davenport, was charged with five counts of third-degree burglary. The charges related to break-ins at La Morenita Tienda y Taqueria, Steele Family Aquatic Center, Korner Kremery, Morelia Mexican Food & Treats and Pizza Hut, and two counts of attempted burglary at Carmel’s Closet and The Emporium, the release said.

Washington Police Chief Jim Lester said tips from the public greatly facilitated the investigation leading up to Pategas’ arrest.

“After posting pictures of our suspect on our social media page, we almost immediately received tips identifying Pategas as our suspect,” Lester said. “Our investigation also revealed that Pategas had sold a television that was stolen in one of the break-ins at a pawn shop in Davenport.”

Pategas was arrested by Washington police on June 25 and is currently being held in the Washington County Jail on $30,000 cash bail, the release said.
