Man arrested after standoff with SWAT team from Parma

PARMA, Ohio – A man was arrested by Parma police on Tuesday, June 25, following a standoff at a townhouse.

At around 4:30 a.m., Parma officers responded to calls that an armed man was parked in a vehicle outside a residence in the 2400 block of Alber Avenue. According to police, the suspect knew a person who lives at the home and was violating a protective order.

When officers arrived, the man reportedly refused to exit his vehicle, resulting in a standoff that lasted several hours. At approximately 7:50 a.m., the 24-year-old man was arrested by Parma SWAT without further incident. The suspect was then transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

A pistol was confiscated from the suspect. The names of the suspect and the victim have not yet been released.

The incident remains under investigation.
