Part of Washington Street in Muscatine closed

MUSCATINE, Iowa (KWQC) – The City of Muscatine says Muscatine Power and Water will close the westbound lane of Washington Street from Park Avenue to Grand Avenue beginning Wednesday.

The closure was made to investigate and repair a leak in the water main, the city said. The work is expected to be completed on Thursday.

The city says the lane closure only affects the westbound lane, so eastbound traffic on Washington Street toward Park Avenue will not be impacted. However, traffic on Park Avenue will not be able to turn west onto Washington Street while the MPW is working. Westbound traffic will be detoured via Park Avenue to East 5th Street or northbound via Park Avenue to Clay Street.

The city is urging drivers to pay attention to traffic signals and seek alternative routes if possible.
