Man accused of sexually abusing dogs released from prison and dies | Crime

IOSCO COUNTY, Michigan (WJRT) – A man accused of sex crimes involving a dog in Iosco County has died.

Iosco County Prosecutor Jim Bacarella confirms that 64-year-old Michael Johnston was released from the Iosco County Jail on Monday and was hospitalized for a medical emergency.

Johnston died the same day, but the cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

Johnston was arrested in Alabama in April and charged with sexually abusing a dog after a family member found disturbing images and videos on Johnston’s cellphone.

Police also discovered that Johnston was part of an online group that uses animals to commit crimes. Investigations related to this online group are ongoing in other states.
