Former senior prosecutor suspected of sexually harassing subordinates

Osaka, June 26 (Jiji Press) — Kentaro Kitagawa, a 64-year-old former head of the Osaka District Public Prosecutors’ Office, is suspected of sexually harassing a subordinate while in office at his then-official residence in the western Japanese city, informed sources said Wednesday.

The subordinate was drunk at the time of the incident, the sources said.

The Osaka Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office said Tuesday that Kitagawa had been arrested on suspicion of sexual abuse, but did not disclose details of the case, such as the date and location, out of respect for the victim’s privacy.

Kitagawa headed the district prosecutor’s office from February 2018 to November 2019. He resigned from his post several years before reaching retirement age.
