13-year-old girl gang-raped and killed in Haridwar; accused BJP leader expelled

Dehradun:A BJP politician and his aide have been accused of raping and then murdering a 13-year-old girl in Haridwar, police said on Wednesday.

Based on a complaint by the victim’s family, a case was registered at the Bahadarabad police station against Adityaraj Saini, a member of the BJP’s OBC Committee, and his aide Amit Saini.

Adityaraj was expelled from the party and removed from his post. Mahendra Bhatt, president of the BJP in the state of Uttarakhand, issued a letter in this regard.

On Monday morning, the girl’s body was found near Patanjali Yogpeeth in Bahadarabad police station area of ​​Haridwar district. The girl’s mother claimed that her daughter had gone out with Amit at 7.30 pm on Sunday and then disappeared.

When the girl returned home late at night, her mother called her on her mobile phone, but Amit picked up and told her not to worry as she was with him. He also asked her not to disturb him by calling repeatedly, the woman said. Despite this, the girl’s mother called after some time, but the mobile phone was switched off.

When the girl did not return the next morning, the woman went to Adityaraj’s house as Amit was working with him but could not find her daughter. When she said she would report to the police, the police stopped her and said he would look into the matter himself. Adityaraj is also the husband of the village headman.

The victim’s family alleged that Amit had taken their daughter captive and raped her for the last six months because she had promised him marriage. They alleged that their daughter was raped and killed by Amit and Adityaraj.

The incident sparked a political uproar in Uttarakhand, with the Congress party sharply criticising the BJP-led government. Congress spokesperson Garima Dasoni claimed that law and order had deteriorated in the state, leading to rapes and murders of women here.
