Passers-by observed a “street takeover” in the south of the city.

It has been almost a year since a 15-year-old boy was shot dead along with two others in front of his family.

Pima County Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives need your help to solve this murder.

A makeshift memorial still stands at Old Nogales Highway and Aerospace Parkway, where the teen was shot.

You can see his picture, there are some faded flowers and a place for people to sit and remember his all too short life.

He said homicide detective Miguel Flores was the lead investigator

“What happened here is just terrible.”

Eyewitnesses told police they saw a man standing in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

Detective Flores said, “A little boy died and we had two young people who suffered devastating, life-changing injuries.”

July 30, 2023, when Malinko Reino was shot…

“The victim’s entire family was present when this happened.”

Therefore, it is crucial to find the man who fired the shots into the crowd.

“These people will suffer devastating physical and mental injuries for the rest of their lives. And we have a little boy who lost his life and leaves a void in his family that nothing can replace.”

Investigators received 88 CRIME tips, interviewed witnesses and viewed phone videos of the street racing that night.

“The information we have so far is that the intent was clearly to point the gun at the crowd and fire shots into the crowd.”

Detective Flores says they know some people have information and could help them find the shooter.

“We don’t want to investigate anything other than the murder itself.

The people who were there watching did nothing to justify what happened to them. Our only concern right now is solving a murder.”
