Storms are expected in the region from Wednesday afternoon

BLANKET TO KEEP YOU COOL. TODAY IS A SEVERE WEATHER WARNING DAY. AS ASHLEY SAID, WE’RE DEALING WITH THESE VERY HIGH TEMPERATURES. NOW IT SOUNDS LIKE WE’RE DEALING WITH SOME STORMS. YES, AND YOU KNOW, IT’S GONNA BE LATER, WHICH IS GOOD NEWS. BUT YES, IT’S BEEN BRUTAL WITH THE HEAT AND HUMIDITY. YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED THAT THIS MORNING. WHEN THEY GET UP, GO, 73 NOW IN PITTSBURGH, 67, WHEN WE WAKE UP IN BUTLER, MONROEVILLE, 69, MORGANTOWN, 74, 72, UNIONTOWN AND GREENSBURG, NEW CASTLE, 6868. ALSO IN WASHINGTON. SO IT’S ALREADY VERY WARM BUT CALM. THIS IS THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM. WE HAVE SOME HIGH CLOUDS CONTINUING TO MOVE IN, BUT A VERY NICE SHOT OF OUR CITY THIS MORNING. YOU CAN SEE SOME OF THAT CLOUD COVER HERE ON OUR SATELLITE IMAGES AS THESE CLOUDS ARE GETTING DENSER. THIS COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED TO MOVE BY THIS LOW PRESSURE AREA DURING THE DAY. TEMPERATURES WILL BE A LITTLE ABOVE 25 AND 27 DEGREES OVER THE NEXT 12 HOURS. SO TEMPERATURE wise, WE ARE SEASONAL. BUT THE HUMIDITY IS INCREASING AND WITH THESE STORMS, SOME OF THEM COULD GET REALLY STRONG. SO THAT’S WHAT WE’RE LOOKING AT. 2. 3:00 AM WILL BE THE BEGINNING OF WHEN THE WARM FRONT STARTS TO MOVE IN. AND WHERE WE SEE THE YELLOW, THAT’S A SPREAD RISK FOR STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS. SO THE TIMING OF IT IS A PRETTY BIG TIME BECAUSE IT’S GOING TO BE PARTYING THROUGHOUT OUR ENTIRE REGION BETWEEN 2:00 AM AND 11:00 PM TONIGHT. IT’S GOING TO BE SPREAD OUT IN NATURE. I THINK ONE OF THE BIGGEST CONCERNS IS GOING TO BE STORM FLOODING BECAUSE THE GROUND IS JUST SO DRY. AND IF THERE’S A HEAVY DOWNPOUR, IT CAN BE REALLY HARD TO ABSORB ALL THE MOISTURE. THERE’S THE POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING, HIGH WINDS, LARGE HAIL, AND A SIMPLIFIED TORNADO RISK. ALTHOUGH THE TORNADO THREAT IS AS LOW AS WE’VE SEEN ALL SEASON, IT DOESN’T TAKE MUCH TO IGNITE A LOT OF THESE TORNADOES. SO AT 3 AM IT SEEMS LIKE IT’S MAINLY RISING ON I 80. THEN AS WE APPROACH EVENING DRIVE, WE’LL SEE A DECREASE IN WIND IN MUCH OF OUR AREA. LAWRENCE BUTLER IN BEAVER COUNTY, A SMALL CELL THERE IN MORGANTOWN, PRESTON, TUCKER AND GARRETT AS WE DRIVE BETWEEN 6 AND 7 AM, SOME OF THESE CELLS AGAIN, IT’S GOING TO BE VERY SPREAD OUT, BUT BE PREPARED FOR THAT. ALLEGHENY, PARTS OF WESTMORELAND BACK IN FAYETTE COUNTY, THAT’S RIGHT AT 6 AM TONIGHT. AND THEN AS WE MOVE ON BETWEEN 7 AND 8, THAT’S WHICH WILL HIT INDIANA, PARTS OF CAMBRIA AND SOMERSET. WE’LL STILL HAVE SOME RAIN AND ALSO SOME OTHER SPOKEN STORMS PASSING BY BETWEEN 8 AND 10 AM. AFTER 10 AM IT’S WILL START TO REALLY CALM DOWN FOR US. WE’LL STILL HAVE SOME CLOUDS AS WE GO INTO THE NIGHT, AND THOSE CLOUDS WILL REMAIN INTO THE EARLY HOURS OF THURSDAY. THEN THESE CLOUDS WILL CLEAR UP BY THE AFTERNOON AND WE’LL FINISH THE DAY WITH SOME SUNSHINE ON THURSDAY. SO TODAY IT’S A SEVERE WEATHER WARNING DAY. IT’S GOING TO BE WARM AND HUMBLE. WE EXPECT THESE OUT-SPREAD STORMS TO START AS FAR AS 2 AM AND SOME OF THEM MAY POSSIBLY BECOME STORMS. TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE LOWER 27.5-28.5 TONIGHT. THOSE EVENING STORMS WILL COME TO AN END. IT’S MOSTLY CLOUDY AFTER MIDNIGHT. AND THAT’S YOUR FORECAST FOR FOUR DAYS PLUS FOUR MORE. TOMORROW THE TEMPERATURES WILL FALL A LITTLE DOWNWARDS. WE WILL GO BACK TO OVER 30 GRAMS. SATURDAY IS THE BIG DAY WITH RAIN AND STORMS ALL DAY. RAIN IN THE EARLY MORNING BEFORE NOON
