Rockets miss Mikal bridges, but could have bigger targets on radar

For several months, the Houston Rockets have been linked to Mikal Bridges of the Brooklyn Nets. Even going back to the recent trade deadline, it was reported that the Rockets went after the veteran wing aggressively, throwing around pieces like the Nets’ 2024 first-round pick — who ended up by being No. 3 overall – and Jalen Green.

But the day before the 2024 NBA draft, the idea of Bridges moving to Houston officially ended. In a blockbuster deal with the New York Knicks, Bridges will join his former Villanova teammates at the Nets’ in-state rivals.

That’s not to say the Rockets won’t make a bigger move. In fact, Houston made a trade of its own on Tuesday night, swapping capital with the Nets to potentially make a significant trade in the near future.

So who could be on the Rockets’ radar?

It’s clear that Houston is in favor of adding a big piece this summer, really pushing this team into the playoff conversation. Kevin Durant is firmly on the radar. Paul George might make sense. Jimmy Butler could finally become a Rocket after being a target several years ago.

With the draft capital and young talent that Houston has, there is no doubt that the Rockets could make almost any trade. It’s about finding a star who is available and fits what the team is trying to do.
