Elderly person found dead after housing construction in Turlock

TURLOCK, California – One person was killed in an apartment fire in Turlock Tuesday morning.

The Turlock Fire Department was called to the 1500 block of East Avenue around 8:33 a.m. for a possible structure fire. When firefighters arrived on scene, they found the fire in the apartment extinguished.

They were called again after a caregiver checked on the elderly resident of the apartment. The person was found dead.

The fire did not spread beyond the apartment and no one was injured. It is currently unclear how the person died.

The fire is under investigation; no further information is available at this time.
