CPSO arrests leader of car theft in Caddo Parish

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana (KTAL/KMSS) – According to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, the leader of a car theft gang was arrested last Tuesday.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) confirmed in its June 18 press release that 34-year-old Demarcus Clements of Shreveport faces several charges, including auto theft, illegal possession of stolen property and trespassing at a business.

Sheriff’s detectives believe Clements stole more than 21 vehicles in Caddo Parish.

CPSO Details: Clements was first investigated in 2022 for the theft of several vehicles from the Union Pacific Railroad’s Reiser Yard.

They claim that Clements altered the appearance of the vehicles by covering the original paint with a vinyl film.

The search warrant uncovered key evidence that identified Clements as the mastermind behind the theft of 18 cars from the Greater Shreveport Auto Auction on Greenwood Road.

According to CPSO, when Clement was found, he fled on foot but was arrested by Detective Jones and task force agents.

He is currently being held at the Caddo Correctional Prison.
