Man arrested in fatal shooting in Tallahassee last month, but Tallahassee police say he did not pull the trigger

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A man is behind bars in connection with a fatal shooting at a gas station last month.

Derrian Merritt is charged with murder and conspiracy, but Tallahassee police say he did not pull the trigger.

They say he drove the gunman to the Circle K at the corner of North Monroe Street and Sharer Road on May 17. Merritt’s arrest warrants say he wanted the gunman to kill a man during an argument, but the gunman killed the wrong man.

Instead of the intended target, Shannon Washington was killed.

The police report did not identify the shooter or say whether he had been caught. Merritt is in jail without bail.
