Man arrested after breaking into Limestone County home

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Alabama (WHNT) – A man was arrested after breaking into a home in Limestone County on Sunday, according to police.

According to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), officers responded to a burglary report in the 1900 block of East Limestone Road.

Upon arrival, officers observed that the home had been forcibly broken into and learned that the victim was home at the time of the incident. According to LCSO, the suspect left the area on foot before authorities arrived on the scene and abandoned his vehicle.

The LCSO identified the suspect as 52-year-old Robert Carlton Holland of Athens. After searching the area for Holland, officers eventually saw Holland attempting to leave the area in his vehicle.

The sheriff’s office told News 19 that Holland got out of his vehicle and ran away when he saw officers. Holland was arrested after he was found hiding behind a tree.

Holland was charged with second-degree burglary and attempted escape. He is being held in the Limestone County Jail on $600 bail.
