Fire department: 1 dead in apartment fire in Turlock

One person was found dead Tuesday after a fire damaged a unit at an apartment complex, the Turlock Fire Department said. Crews responded to a report of a possible structure fire on East Avenue just after 8:30 a.m. A maintenance worker also arrived to check on the apartment’s elderly resident, the fire department said. First responders found a fire in an apartment, the fire department said. Officials said the apartment’s resident was found dead. The fire did not spread to other neighboring apartments, officials said. No one else was injured or homeless. The Stanislaus County Fire Investigation Unit is investigating the cause of the fire. Shortly after 8:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to a report of a possible building fire on East Avenue. A caretaker also arrived to check on the elderly resident of the apartment, the fire department said.

The fire department reported that rescue workers had discovered a fire in an apartment.

Officials said the resident of the apartment was found dead.

Officials said the fire did not spread to neighboring apartments. No one else was injured or left homeless.

The Stanislaus County Fire Investigation Unit is investigating the cause of the fire.

The Turlock Police Department and the FIU are investigating the death.
