THE BRONX, NY (PIX11) — A woman is charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in the Bronx on Sunday, the NYPD said.

The stabbing occurred in a NYCHA residential area on Watson Avenue.

According to police, the suspect, Mirda Degracia, 52, called 911 around 9:50 a.m.

Degracia claimed she stabbed a person in the chest after a man broke into her home, police said.

Officers found the victim, Reynaldo Luna, 63, with five stab wounds to the chest and additional stab wounds to the neck, officials said. He was taken to Jacobi Hospital and pronounced dead at 10:26 a.m.

Some time after the stabbing, Degracia called Luna’s relatives in the Dominican Republic and said, “I killed your brother-in-law” and sent them a picture of his body, police said.

According to police, Degracia has no criminal record and this is her first arrest. There were no previous domestic incidents between Degracia and Luna, who were partners.
