Hundreds of dead fish found in Herriman Pond

HERRIMAN, Utah – Hundreds of dead fish were found in a pond in Herriman, which was subsequently closed indefinitely.

According to the Utah Department of Natural Resources, approximately 500 dead fish were found in Cove Pond on Monday morning, June 24. The majority of the dead fish were catfish, but there were also a few bluegill and green sunfish.

Faith Heaton Jolley of the DNR said the cause of death is unknown.

“We are working with the Utah Department of Environmental Quality and local communities to determine the cause of death,” she said.

Jolley recommends that anglers who fish in the pond do not eat the fish they catch.
