One man died and two were injured in hit-and-run – NBC10 Philadelphia

One man is dead and two others were injured after a three-car hit-and-run crash in North Philadelphia early Sunday morning.

Shortly after midnight, police were called to the intersection of 20th Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue for a three-vehicle crash, police said.

Investigators said a 2003 Honda Accord was traveling westbound on Cecil B. Moore when the driver ran a red light and struck a 2020 Chevy Spark traveling southbound.

The impact of the Honda caused the Chevy to crash into a 2013 Buick Enclave.

The driver of the Chevy, 38-year-old Edwin Villamizar, was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene shortly after officers arrived, police said.

As NBC10 learned from his sister Yully Villamizar, Villamizar moved to Philadelphia a year and a half ago to send money to his parents and children living in Colombia.

His family is currently trying to raise money to bring his body back home.

According to police, the driver and passenger of the Buick Enclave were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police are searching for the driver and passenger of the Honda, who fled the scene of the accident on foot in an unknown direction, officials said.

Philadelphia police are currently investigating the accident.
