Prosecutor investigating Alachua County Sheriff’s Office has received new documents

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Third Judicial District Attorney John Durrett says he has received many documents related to an investigation into former Alachua County Sheriff Clovis Watson Jr. Those documents include witness statements and personnel files. Durrett says he will review the documents as soon as possible.

Durrett was assigned to investigate the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office in early June after Governor Ron DeSantis issued two executive orders directing prosecutors to investigate the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office and the sheriff’s granddaughter.

There are no further details yet on what FDLE officials are investigating.
