Two Western New York Refugee Organizations Tapped for Funding

Two Western New York organizations that help refugees find jobs while adjusting to their new homes in New York are set to receive new funding through the Refugee Support Services program, Governor Kathy Hochul announced Tuesday.

Journey’s End Refugee Services ($2,559,604), while Jewish Family Services of Western NY – Buffalo ($2,724,000) and Niagara ($148,741) will receive this funding.

The Refugee Support Services Program provides services that include overcoming barriers to employment, such as social and cultural adjustment, job search skills, work experience and language proficiency. English. Transition services are also provided to ensure continued employment and improve opportunities for advancement.

“New York State is proud to have welcomed with open arms those displaced by violence or fleeing persecution,” said Governor Hochul. “These investments will help lift refugee communities and represent our unwavering commitment to the opportunities and promise they bring to our state.” »

A total of 17 nonprofit refugee service providers across the state received funding to provide employment and transition support services to help recently resettled refugees and their families adjust to life in the United States.
