Missing Connecticut teenager found in Montgomery, suspect arrested

Montgomery police on Sunday arrested a 24-year-old man from New Haven, Connecticut, who is suspected of being responsible for the disappearance of a 15-year-old girl from the state.

Authorities said the missing girl was found in “good health” in a wooded area near Ridge Road and was reunited with her family after being examined at the hospital.

The suspect, Marcos Menendez, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and was released on summons.

Montgomery police said Connecticut State Police alerted them that the suspect’s phone was beeping in the area of ​​Routes 17K and 747, which led to the arrest. Authorities say the suspect was found alone on Maple Avenue and told the missing teen to run away.

The underage girl was found after a short search with the help of neighboring police stations, the state police, a police dog and a drone.

The circumstances that led to the teenager being reported missing are not immediately known.
