Man charged with rape, stalking and coercive control

Joshua Boland, 28, appeared in the dock at Swansea Crown Court to face three counts of the offences.

Boland was charged with controlling or coercive behavior in an intimate relationship in the Hendy area between January 2020 and December 2023.

It was alleged that the defendant searched the plaintiff’s phone, demanded details of her sex life with previous partners, verbally abused her, threatened to commit suicide if she broke up with him, took her in his car against her will, accused her of infidelity and contacted her colleagues under her identity.

He was also charged with stalking involving severe panic or distress in Hendy between January 1 and May 23.

Boland was accused of constantly messaging the plaintiff and attempting to contact her. Among other things, he sent over 80 messages in a single day, attempted to access the plaintiff’s social media accounts, showed up at her workplace and followed the plaintiff to a family member’s home.

He was also accused of raping a woman between August 31, 2022 and October 1, 2023.

Boland, of Marble Hall Road, Llanelli, pleaded not guilty to all charges.

He was remanded in custody and will face trial on November 18.
