Delta Air Lines mechanic sentenced to six months in prison for sexually assaulting a young woman who had just attended a Taylor Swift concert

A former Delta Air Lines mechanic was sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a young woman who was returning home from attending a Taylor Swift concert.

At the time of the sexual assault on March 20, 2023, Brick was still employed by Delta and traveling on a free ticket when he took advantage of the nervous 23-year-old air traveler who had taken anti-anxiety medication to help her sleep on the flight from Phoenix to Seattle.

In a plea deal Brick, 53, reached with prosecutors in March, he admitted to taking the victim’s hand and placing it in his crotch for several minutes before sliding his hand under her shirt and groping her bare breasts.

Brick sat in the middle seat and pushed the victim through the window while repeatedly sexually assaulting her.

After groping her breasts, the victim woke up, but was so frozen in shock that she could not even respond when Brick tapped her face to check whether she was asleep or not.

When she didn’t respond, Brick reached for her waistband and tried to shove his hand into her pants.

At this point, the victim gathered his courage and told Brick “no” before turning away from him to avoid his unwanted advances. Despite this, Brick attempted to put his hands down the victim’s pants two more times.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Grace Zoller said the attack was “deliberate, methodical and prolonged… it lasted many minutes. He knew she was not consenting and when he was caught, he blamed her.”

Brick was only stopped when a witness sitting behind the victim reported the incident to the flight crew. However, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the crew failed to call the police and Brick was quickly escorted off the plane after landing in Seattle because he was an airline employee.

After the victim reported the incident to flight crew, Brick claimed he had “accidentally” touched the woman, and it took more than 15 minutes before flight crew finally decided to move him to another seat.

The victim has filed a lawsuit against Delta, claiming that the airline did not adequately train its employees on how to handle reports of sexual assault.

Her lawyer says she is “understandably traumatized” and is currently in therapy.

In March, Delta said in a statement that it has “zero tolerance for unlawful conduct and will cooperate with law enforcement to that end.”
