US House Justice Department investigates suspect charged in Rachel Morin case – Baltimore Sun

The U.S. House Judiciary Committee has launched an investigation into the suspect alleged to have killed Rachel Morin in Harford County last year, according to a letter obtained by FOX45 News.

Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez, 23, was charged with first-degree murder and first-degree rape after being arrested by authorities in Oklahoma earlier this month. Martinez-Hernandez is also accused of attacking a nine-year-old girl and her mother in Los Angeles in March 2023.

U.S. immigration officials told FOX45 News that Martinez-Hernandez, a native of El Salvador, entered the United States illegally near El Paso, Texas, in February 2023. He had previously attempted to enter the United States three times, in January and February 2023, without success, and faced deportation each time.

In a letter sent Monday to U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Republican Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio and Republican Rep. Tom McClintock of California demanded records of Martinez-Hernandez’s immigration history, including information about his failed attempts to cross the border.

Jordan and McClintock gave Mayorkas a July 8 deadline to submit the requested documents.
