Harry Potter actress Jessie Cave raped by tennis coach at age 14

British actress Jessie Cave, best known for her role as Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter films, has claimed she was raped by her former tennis coach at the age of 14.

The 33-year-old shared the allegations on Thursday in the first episode of her new podcast. We can’t talk about that nowwhich she hosts together with her younger sister Bebe.

During their frank and open discussion, 23-year-old Bebe recalled a heated argument she had with her famous sibling, who is ten years older than her.

“I remember we had a really bad argument one time when we were trying to figure out who had a harder time growing up,” she said.

“I mean, I was raped, so…” Jessie revealed.

Trying to lighten the conversation, Bebe joked that Jessie was using this horrific ordeal “as a kind of trump card” to prove that her teenage years were more difficult.

“I pull it out a lot…” Jessie admitted before Bebe interrupted and exclaimed, “I had braces for five years!”

“To be honest, acne and braces are bad, but I think being raped at 14 by your tennis coach, who you trusted and who was in a position of power, is pretty bad,” Jessie replied.

She further explained that although she was “fit and able to handle a tennis ball,” she was “still taken advantage of,” adding that the man was eventually “sent to prison.”

Jessie, who is expecting her third child with her partner, comedian Alfie Brown, said the sexual assault meant she had a “completely different adolescence and early twenties” to her sister.

“I was still recovering and my sexual journey was completely different from yours. The effects of that time are still being felt, something I only realise 18 years later.

“The longer I’ve been away from it – and this is going to sound horrible, but I feel in many ways that I was lucky that I experienced a rape that actually didn’t destroy me.”

Jessie played Lavender Brown — Ron Weasley aka Rupert Grint’s short-lived girlfriend — in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and both deathly Hallows Movies.

Since then, she has made a name for herself as an artist and has performed stand-up comedians at comedy festivals such as the Edinburgh Fringe.
