5 people arrested after detective shot in Nashville, Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The chase to capture five suspects who allegedly shot a Nashville police officer ended overnight in Wilson County.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), a detective was conducting surveillance in the area around Howerton Street and North 6th Street on Monday, June 24, around 11 p.m. when he was shot.

According to police, about 20 bullet casings were found scattered in the area. The detective was not injured in the incident.

The shooters reportedly sped away in a stolen Infiniti, leading officers on a chase into Wilson County.

An MNPD helicopter was able to track the suspect vehicle from above and notified Mt. Juliet Police about the stolen Infiniti.

Mt. Juliet police said they were able to install nail barriers at the I-40 exit to the Golden Bear Gateway.

After the vehicle was disabled, the suspects fled into a nearby wooded area, but were quickly surrounded and arrested.

The Metro Nashville Police Department, Lebanon Police Department, Wilson County Sheriff’s Office and Tennessee Highway Patrol assisted in the arrest of the suspects.

All five men are still with the MNPD for further investigation, officials said. No further information was released at this time.
