Woman arrested in connection with fatal Fort Worth motel shooting | Texas

FORT WORTH, Texas — A 33-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the shooting of a man at a local motel on June 9.

Ashley Gonzales, of Fort Worth, was taken into custody following the incident that resulted in the death of 37-year-old Nicholas Hernandez, also of Fort Worth. According to Fort Worth police, officers responded to a reported shooting at approximately 12:23 a.m. at a motel in the 4400 block of the S. Freeway.

Initial reports indicated that Hernandez shot himself, but when officers arrived, they found him unconscious and began CPR. Despite their efforts, Hernandez was pronounced dead shortly afterward.

Homicide investigators determined that Hernandez and Gonzales were in a motel room with other people when a gun in Gonzales’ possession went off, striking Hernandez in the upper body. The group called 911 for medical assistance, but attempts to save Hernandez were unsuccessful.

Gonzales is currently being held in the Tarrant County Jail on $80,000 bail. He is charged with manslaughter, the press release states.
